KFMZ/KZBK EEO Report

This report is being filed to comply with Federal Communications Commission Rules providing the following
information for the period of September 22, 2015 to September 21, 2016 for Stations KFMZ (AM) and KZBK (FM),
Brookfield, Missouri. According to Federal Communications Commission EEO rules, this station employment unit is not
subject to formal outreach and recruitment requirements as fewer than five full-time persons were employed during
the period.
Supplemental Outreach Initiatives and Activities
A: Best Broadcasting, Inc. participates in the Missouri Broadcasters
Association Scholarship program. Deserving students receive financial aid to assist them in attaining the
training and expertise required to become valuable employees in Missouri's broadcasting industry. The annual
deadline for applications is March 31st of each year. Click here for more information.
B: Best Broadcasting, Inc. has an ongoing Internship program which allows area youth to actually work in a
broadcast environment. During this reporting cycle, Ryan Elliott from Northwest Missouri State
University (Maryville, MO) worked as a paid intern in a variety of broadcast related functions. He was
originally hired as a BHS Junior and worked through his senior year before continuing his education at
the College level. In addition, Shelby Gardner works as part of our paid Internship Program on a weekly
basis. Shelby is a student at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO enrolled in the Marketing program.
Supervisors include Jeff Elliott, KFMZ/KZBK Operations Manager and Dale Palmer, KFMZ/KZBK General Manager.
C: KFMZ/KZBK was represented by Jeff Elliott, Group Operations Manager during a visit to
the Brookfield Elementary School on December 14, 2015 and spoke with more than 100 students on several topics.
Involved in the discussion were careers and necessary educational training in order to get involved in the
radio and communications industry. A question and answer session followed the formal presentation.
E: Tours of the
KFMZ/KZBK broadcast facility were provided to 12 students from the Trinity United Methodist Church school on May
11, 2016. Students participating in the tour asked a number of questions about the job, training, and other
aspects of the broadcasting and advertising industries include a discussion on various careers available in the
broadcast industry.
E: Continued to air weekly announcements encouraging those who are interested in a
broadcast related career to contact us.
F: Continued to air weekly announcements encouraging the help of local organizations in referring
qualified applicants to our stations. These announcements inform organizations that wish to receive our job vacancy
information to contact us.
